Devlog 2: Boss Room Layout


Hello everyone! This is Blazer again, one of the developers working on FA and in charge of writing the Devlog.

For this week, our focus was the layout of the Boss Room. In our demo release, Kayden will have to face a certain boss at the end of the demo level. We wanted to focus more on the strengths of our game, so we decided that our Boss Fight will involve a lot of movement. By the end of our discussions, the Boss Fight turned more into a Boss Level!

Our Level Designers and team whipped up a sketch of the level design and yours truly was in charge of implementing the stage and hazards into the game. By the end of the week, the basic structure of the boss level has been completed. The stage will comprise of various walls and platforms that Kayden can swing his way across, above, and under. At the end of the stage, hazards will be more prevalent as the difficulty increases.

It is still missing some interactable objects such as breakable walls or crates so that will be our focus for another week. These interactable objects will also be key for the Boss Fight itself, so we will be focusing more on that aspect next week.
